Dirk Bauermann is one of the most successful German sports coaches of the last 20 years. From 2001 – 2008 he worked as a coach in Bamberg. His reorganized team reached the finals at the German championship in the 2002/2003 season and the 2003/2004 season marked a continuation of this successful work. The end of 2003 he took a dual role, and signed the contract as the new coach of men’s national team. In 2008, he became exclusively coach of the German basketball team and in 2010 it was announced that he takes over as the coach of FC Bayern Munich. In 2013 he was appointed the head coach of the Polish national basketball team.

[expand title=”In detail”] After starting his career in Fresno, California, where he studied physical education, Dirk Bauermann wrote German basketball history in his nine years as coach of Bayer Leverkusen: seven German championships and four Cup wins, as well as successful appearances in European competitions. As a coach, he celebrated his greatest success in 2005 by winning the silver medal at the European Championships. Previously in 1998 he had moved to coach the Belgian club, Sunair Oostende, and attained the best international result ever reached by a Belgian team. He also had coaching spells in Hagen and two Greek clubs.[/expand]
