Bernd RaffelhüschenBernd Raffelhüschen is a Professor of Public Finance and Director of the Research Center Intergenerational at the Albert-Ludwigs-University and Professor II at Bergen University. His research interests are in the areas of social and tax policy, especially the old-age security, health economics and preventive care. He advertises for a supplement to the PAYG pension system by a capital-based pension.

He studied economics at Kiel, Berlin and Aarhus and obtained his Ph.D. at the University of Kiel. He is regularly active in several advisory functions for the policy. From 2002 to 2003 he was a member of the Rürup Commission on the future of social security systems. He has published in journals such as American Economic Review, European Economic Review and Public Choice, among others. He is a member of the Advisory Board Foundation for the rights of future generations and also an ambassador of the Initiative New Social Market Economy on questions of practical social policy.[/expand]
