Roberto Benigni is an Italian actor, director and producer best known for his 1997 Oscar winning film La Vita e Bella (Life is Beautiful) which he wrote, directed and played in. He received the Academy Award for Best Actor for the film, and it also won a Best Foreign Language Film award. During 2006 and 2007, he had a lot of success touring Italy with his one man show TuttoDante. Combining current events and memories of his past narrated with an ironic tone, Roberto began a journey of poetry and passion through the world of the Divine Comedy.

Roberto’s film debut took place in 1976 with Berlinguer, ti voglio bene (Berlinguer, I Love You). Later films as an actor include Il Minestrone (1980), La Voce Della Luna (1989, The Voice of the Moon), The Son of the Pink Panther (1993), and Astérix et Obélix Contre César (1999, Asterix and Obelix Take on Caesar). In 1982 he made his directorial debut with Tu Mi Turbi (You Disturb Me), a television monologue which brought Benigni widespread fame. [/expand]
