He co-founded the ongoing Hackers’ Conference, and was involved with the launch of the WELL, a pioneering online service started in 1985. He helped launch Wired in 1993, and served as its Executive Editor until 1999. Kevin Kelly has no college or university degrees; however his writing appears in the New York Times, Esquire, The Economist and other periodicals. Among Kelly’s personal involvements is a campaign to make a full inventory of all living species on earth, an effort also known as the Linnaean enterprise.
