Professor Dr.Jay Galbraith

Leading Authority on Organisational Design, Change and Development

 Jay Galbraith change speakerProfessor Dr. Jay Galbraith was until the year 2000 Professor at the International Institute for Management Development in Lausanne; he is also Senior Research Scientist at the Centre for Effective Organisation and Professor of Management and Organisation at the University of Southern California.

Dr. Galbraith has specialised in organisation design, change and development with particular emphasis on international partnering arrangements including joint ventures and network organisations. His studies have covered the formation and development of joint ventures between Asian and Western companies. He is currently researching the rapid reconfiguration of organisation units to meet the changing demands of cross boundary customers and markets. His research has been the basis of numerous articles for professional journals as well as the six books he has published. His most recent work “Designing Organisations: An Executive Briefing on Strategy, Structure and Process” is a balanced perspective of organisation design principles. The title for his forthcoming book (end of 1999) is: “The Global Organisation”.

Dr. Galbraith directed his own management consulting firm prior to joining the faculty of the USC. He has also been a faculty member of the Sloan School of Management at MIT and the Wharton School at Pennsylvania University.
