Actor, Director and Leadership Specialist
The son of Sir Laurence Olivier and Dame Joan Plowright, Richard Olivier has been a leading theatre director for over ten years, most recently directing ‘Henry V’ and the ‘Merchant of Venice’ at the Globe Theatre. He is a Visiting Fellow at the Cranfield School of Management and a Visiting Lecturer with the Industrial Society.
Five years ago he created Mythodrama – a new form of arts based learning that uses theatrical techniques and notably stories from Shakespeare, to focus on leadership skills, change management and creativity.
He argues that the ways in which organisations are moving forward can no longer be understood with the old business models, language and analysis that has served managers in the past. Whilst the rational manager has got business where it is today, he or she will not be able to take it where it needs to go.
