Until August 1999 Dr Hans Tietmeyer was the President of the Deutsche Bundesbank and remains one of the most important figures in European finance.
Dr Hans Tietmeyer is uniquely qualified and decision makers from businesses around the world will benefit from his insight into the history and future prospects of economic and monetary policy in Germany, Europe and worldwide.
Dr Tietmeyer was born in 1931 and was educated at the Universities of Münster, Bonn and Cologne. Following an academic background in which his thinking was influenced by Alfred Muller-Armack and Ludwig Erhard he moved into international economics and banking.

Former Vice-President of the European Commission, Competition Commissioner and Transport Commissioner
Karel van Miert played a key role in the modernisation of European competition and deregulation policy in the 1990s. While he was European Competition Commissioner, the media dubbed him ‘The most powerful man in Europe’. His responsibilities spanned across shaping policy for transport, credit, investment and consumers, as well as competition policy. Mr. Van Miert was President of Universiteit Nyenrode from 2000 to 2003 and most recently chaired a high level group looking into the transport infrastructure for the enlarged European Union.

A proponent of the benefits of competition, he is highly respected for his work regulating mergers and acquisitions, and for implementing a Europe wide competition policy. He further is member of the Advisory Board of Guidant Europe NV, Eli Lilly Holdings Ltd., Fitch, Rabobank, Boer & Croon and Goldman Sachs International.

Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Intel Corporation

Bruce Sewell is senior vice president and general counsel of Intel Corporation. His management responsibilities include legal, corporate affairs, and Intel’s corporate social responsibility programs. As general counsel, he supervises a team of roughly 600 attorneys and policy professionals located in over 30 countries around the world. Sewell also represents Intel on several professional, legislative and policy boards in the United States and abroad. He was recently profiled in Fortune and is also a regular contributor for the Wall Street Journal.

Mr Sewell joined Intel in 1995 as a senior attorney assigned to counsel various business groups in areas such as antitrust compliance, licensing, and intellectual property. In 2001, he was promoted to vice president and deputy general counsel. In that role he managed Intel’s litigation portfolio, and handled corporate transactions, including M&A activities. He took over as only the third general counsel in Intel’s history in November 2004.

Sir Gerry Robinson is a British businessman and is the former (non-executive) Chairman of Allied Domecq and the ex-Chairman/Chief Executive of Granada. He also served as chairman of the Arts Council England for several years. With 16 years in power, a post-war political record, and having won four consecutive general elections Helmut Kohl is arguably Germany’s most successful Chancellor. He played a significant role in European integration and was a key player in ending the Cold War and manifesting the Reunification of Germany. Undoubtedly, his finest hour came, when Germany was re-unified in 1990. Most recently Dr Kohl received the 2005 International Leadership Award for contributions to global peace and security from the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations.
