Christopher Rodrigues was appointed Chair of the British Council in May 2016. He divides his time between the British Council, VisitBritain, the British Bobsleigh & Skeleton Association, Openwork Holdings Ltd and the Port of London Authority, all of which he is also Chair. He is pro-bono Chairman of The Almeida Theatre and is a Vice Chairman of the World Travel and Tourism Council.

[expand title=”In detail”] His previous career includes terms as President and CEO of Visa International; Group Chief Executive of Bradford and Bingley, Group Chief Executive at Thomas Cook and various senior positions at American Express. He stepped down as Chairman of International Personal Finance and Windsor Leadership at the end of April 2015, following a period of 8 years as Chairman of both organisations. Christopher was also on the Council and a Trustee of the National Trust until he stepped down in July 2016. Christopher is a graduate of Cambridge University and the Harvard Business School. Christopher was made a Commander of the British Empire in the 2007 New Year Honours list for services to British business interests and charitable works in the UK and USA.
