Girish Lakshman has been a part of the Amazon.com e-logistics strategy since July 1999, he has been instrumental in shaping the logistics strategy of the company and is now a recognised leader in this field. He has thirteen years experience in the manufacturing and automotive industry, and has provided corporate strategy advice in the biotech industry in India.

Through his presentations he explains how to develop prototypical decision support systems to demonstrate the benefits of using IT for creating an optimal level of core inventory. Girish also uses his expertise to enable business leaders to design and implement systems to project production at cost for different manufacturing facilities to level load production and reduce manpower requirements.

He has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Osmania University, India, and studied a variety of topics at the Graduate School of the University of Missouri Rolla. He has been an officer of the Young Orators Club for several years, learning and teaching the art of public speaking.

Alistair McAlpine has conducted a lifelong love affair with Australia - he’s bought large chunks of it, developed some and turned others into a zoo and nature parks, and has travelled much of the length and breadth of the Continent.

Arriving in Australia in his early twenties as a junior member of the English family building conglomerate McAlpines, he soon became involved in building Perth’s first luxury hotel, the famous Parmelia, and other projects followed. A restless soul, Alistair McAlpine has continually traversed the country by light aircraft and four-wheel-drive. An inveterate collector of art, artifacts and characters, Alistair McAlpine has long been concerned that Aboriginal artists should receive the recognition and rewards that are their due. He has spent many years building up superb collections of Aboriginal and twentieth-century Australian art, photographs, furniture and Australiana, many of which have now been donated to the Australian people.

His many public roles include appointments to the Council of the Royal Court Theatre, the Institute of Contemporary Arts, The Contemporary Arts Society and Arts Council of Great Britain. He is a former pearl farmer, politician, breeder of rare birds, as well as a book, antique and antiquarian dealer.
