Dr. Wulf Bernotat was at the head of E.ON AG, Europe’s second-largest utility, from 2003 to 2010. A Consultant and Senior Advisor at Permira Advisers Ltd., he has been a member of the boards of Bertelsmann, Deutsche Telekom and METRO and of the Supervisory Board of Allianz. His career path took him to the heights of the European energy industry. He exhibited an appreciation for the importance of networking continental resources in order to assure absolute efficiency.

Wulf Bernotat obtained a Doctorate in law. He started his career in the legal department at Shell in Hamburg, Germany. Although he later transferred to the business side of the energy industry, he never lost his interest in law; even in 1997 newspaper and magazine interviews confirmed his knowledge of and comfort with the legal complexities of European business. He was with Shell from 1981 to 1996, working in various European offices, joining VEBA in 1996. In 1998 Bernotat joined Stinnes AG, becoming their CEO.
