Sir George Martin is recognised as one of the music industry’s most versatile and imaginative talents, as well as a defining force in popular culture and music. He is best known for producing The Beatles from 1962 – 1970. Because he became such an integral part of the band, George is often referred to as the fifth Beatle.

During his career, George Martin has formed and run several recording, production and music publishing companies (Parlophone, AIR, Air Studios and George Martin Music) and has recorded a wide range of diverse artists. In all, George has produced 22 No. 1 singles and 19 No.1 albums in the U.S., as well as, 30 No.1 singles and 16 No 1 albums in the U.K. He has also written the background scores for nine movies and has received five Grammy Awards.
